Inspired by one of Hans Christian Andersen’s most beloved fairytales, Bayer Ballet is proud to present another production of The Snow Queen that will warm your hearts and add magic to this holiday season! Visually captivating and viscerally touching, this story ballet celebrates friendship, love and courage.
When the Snow Queen's spell captures Kai, his sister, Gerda sets out on a quest to save him. Follow Gerda's difficult journey as her heart leads her through the deep waters of a magical river, an enchanted flower garden, a spectacular palace, a forest filled with robbers, and the gleaming world of snow and ice that surrounds the Snow Queen's ice castle.

Directed and choreographed by Inna Bayer, Snow Queen, which premiered in 2014, has become a Silicon Valley annual holiday tradition. This two-act ballet features hand painted sets, original costumes, and an award-winning cast of dancers from Bayer Ballet Company & Guest Artists.

Presented by students of Bayer Ballet Academy's Pre-Ballet Division, this whimsical story ballet, set to the music of Tchaikovsky and Rimsky-Korsakov, features gorgeous custom-made costumes and hand painted sets. This family-friendly fairytale is a magical celebration of Spring.โฌโฃ
HISTORY OF SPRINGTIME FAIRYTALE
15 years ago, Bayer Ballet’s Artistic Director, Inna Bayer was inspired to create a story ballet for her first students of the Academy, The earliest version of this ballet was performed in the winter and was called “Winter Fairytale.” “My vision for this ballet was to create a whimsical libretto for these young dancers to learn the art of storytelling and performance, while demonstrating the technical pre-ballet foundations of the Vaganova method.”
This ballet has become an integral component to the teaching of performance and storytelling skills within the Pre-Ballet Division and is performed annually in the Silicon Valley.

Coppélia is considered one of the greatest comic ballets of the 19th Century and remains one of the most cherished classical works in classical ballet repertory. Originally choreographed by Arthur St. Léon in 1870, restaged by Petipa in 1884, and revised by Cecchetti in 1894.
We are honored to welcome back choreographers, Vasily Medvedev & Stanislav Feco, who have choreographed more than 50 works for major ballet companies, including the Bolshoi and Staatsballett Berlin; including Coppélia for the National Ballet of Panama in Panama City & for the National Theatre in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

DIRECTOR & CHOREOGRAPHER
โWorld-renowned choreographer of Esmeralda from BOLSHOI and Nutcracker from Staatsballett Berlin. Among Vasily's works is more than 50 titles created for international audience theatres for the major ballet companies. Mr. Medvedev has received numerous awards, including the US Pushkin Legacy with the Pushkin Legacy Ballet Award for choreography of the ballet, Onegin, presented in National Theatre in Prague.

Mr. Medvedev is a Founder and Artistic Director of the International St. Petersburg Dance Open Ballet Festival and St. Petersburg Dance Open Award, and Chairman of the Petipa Heritage Foundation.
Mr. Medvedev is a graduate of the Vaganova Ballet Academy under the guidance of famous N.Dudinskaia, K.Sergeiev, G.Seliutsky.

Mr. Feฤo received his Master of Arts and Bachelor of Arts in Choreography from Vaganova Ballet Academy in St.Petersburg. During his career he has received numerous honors and awards, including: Philip Morris Flower Ballet Award, Best Dancer in Czech Republic, US Pushkin Legacy Ballet Award, Interpretation of Role Oneginโฃโฃ.
โPrincipal Dancer credits include: Prague National Theatreโฃโฃ, St.Petersburg Russian Balletโฃโฃ, National Theatre in Brnoโฃโฃ. Guest Principal Dancer: Teatro Colon in Buenos Airesโฃโฃ, Azerbaijan National Balletโฃโฃ, State Ballet in Kazanโฃโฃ, and National Opera Donetskโฃโฃ.
โMr. Feฤo has participated at prestigious international ballet galas such as Gala des Etoiles in Montreal, Dance Open in St.Petersburg, Gala Due Mondi in Spoleto, World Ballet Stars in Seoul, and World Ballet Festival in Kiev.

This new version of "Esmeralda," created by choreographers Vasily Medvedev and Stanislav Feฤo specifically for Bayer Ballet Company is a suite of the best ballet numbers included in the treasury of world classical dance. Based on the Bolshoi production, a one-act edition of Esmeralda was created and designed, especially for young performers of the Bayer Ballet.
The libretto by Jules Perrault and Victor Hugo, based on the novel "Notre Dame de Paris," was shortened and remade by Vasily Medvedev and librettist Yana Temiz. In the Gothic story about the fate of the beautiful gypsy Esmeralda, there are now fewer secondary characters and one main storyline was left. This is a beautiful story of love and jealousy, ending, according to the traditions of the imperial theatres, with a happy end and the triumph of goodness.

Join a cast of majestic butterflies and flowers as their garden celebration is interrupted by a fierce storm—and even fiercer competition. This whimsical tale reveals how inner beauty overcomes adversity to win the love of the Butterfly Prince.
The last ballet of Marius Petipa is traditionally considered to be "The Magic Mirror" delivered in 1903. However, the "honorary" title should be given to another performance, “The Romance of the Rosebud and the Butterfly, "which was scheduled to premiere on 1904 on the stage of the Hermitage Theater, but never took place.

With limited historical materials to study, Medvedev created this original choreography for this adaptation of "The Romance of the Rosebud and the Butterfly," resurrecting this rare ballet in the traditional style of Petipa.

The world premiere of "The Rose and the Butterfly - A Love Story," was presented on 14 August 2021 at Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts.
